Many
individuals have problems moving from N3 to
N2003.
The reason
for this is N2003 is much more closer to the
real racing that takes place on the track for
Winston Cup cars. It is for many N3 drivers a
better match in moving to a new Sim than the
previous N4 and NR2002 Sims
It is more realistic.
So what does
that mean? Well, for one thing you need
to think further ahead and look at the whole
picture. Being the fastest, doesn't make you
the winner, just like it doesn't in real
Winston cup racing. You actually have to learn
to drive the car and learn that finishing is
more important. Just like they tell all the
rookies in Winston Cup. Once you get that
message through to your league members, it
will be a whole lot easier for everyone.
If you all
had real sponsors to please and real car
owners, you would treat this like the real
stuff, so again this is much more realistic.
Notice the signs inside Winston Cup cars that
say "PATIENCE!"
Too often
drivers try to treat N2003 like a sprint race,
wrong, this Sim takes some real patience and
your going to need to slow down. This Sim
actually takes some strategy. I know you don't
want to hear that. But slow down. It is
possible to run side by side, but it is going
to take some practice. Also, in
real Winston cup racing if the guy behind you
is faster, the gentleman's agreement is to
give room within 2 laps so the driver that is
faster can get around you, unless it is near
the end of the race, but expect wrecks near
the end because of that, just like in
real Winston Cup racing. Especially the short
tracks, there are a lot of wrecks, and the
cars come back out looking like modifieds.
If your new
to N2003, here are some suggestions to get
started, especially if you have a new league
and most are rookies.
Start out
with the larger tracks. If you start out
with the short tracks, your members may get
too frustrated and quit before they give it a
chance.
Make
everyone slow down, some leagues initiate a 2
or 3 self spin rule and your out of the race,
so have them practices ahead of time so
everyone learns how much control they have
before they spin. Yes, some will say it is
like ice, but watch real Winston cup racing
and the drivers will tell you that the track
is slicker than snot on a doorknob. So listen
up.
See if you
can get some good setups from some good
drivers. Setups are key to racing
well.
If you can
get a few good drivers to help teach, not
run over your league members, it will help
everyone involved.
NR2003
also has driver aids to help with getting a
handle on driving the cars.
